Here are my top 10 favorite keyboard shortcuts that I have grown to rely on in Acrobat 9 Professional. You may know all of them, some of them, or maybe none at all. Everyone uses their applications differently. I used to be a mega-mouse-clicker. Over the years, I have grown to use, appreciate & ultimately rely on keyboard shortcuts to help streamline my workflow. So, here they are… my Top Ten Acrobat 9 Professional Keyboard Shortcuts:
Drum roll, please…
10. Ctrl-6 Insert Sticky Note
9. Shift-Ctrl-D Delete Pages
8. Ctrl-R Show/Hide Rulers (yes, Acrobat DOES have rulers!)
7. Ctrl-U Show/Hide Grid (yep – Acrobat has a design grid too!)
6. Alt-Left Arrow Previous View
5. Ctrl-0 (zero) Fit Page
4. Shift-Ctrl-1 Open Organizer
3. Shift-Ctrl-F Search
2. Ctrl-D Document Properties
…and the number 1 keyboard shortcut is…

i miss some basic shortcuts
z = zoom would be great
nick – go to preferences (ctrl/cmd-K), click on General, and turn ON “Use single key accelerators to access tools”. Once enabled, H=hand tool, Z=zoom, C+crop too, etc.
That you very much, David – I’ve been yearning for just such shortcuts for years!
Where is the shortcut for extracting a page? There is one for Rotate, Delete, Insert, but there is none for extracting (which I do all the time)
As near as I can see, there simply is not a keyboard shortcut for extracting a page! If I uncover something, I’ll post it here! You do know about Right-clicking on the page icons in the Pages Palette, yes?
David
“5. Ctrl-0 (zero) Fit Page”
This is not a valid shortcut in Acrobat 9. Ctrl+0 is zoom in or whatever it was. I’ve been using the shortcut for years, and all of a sudden Adobe changes this (as well as ctrl+1 2 3), without the option to reconfigure.
Completely braindead and definately the #1 reason not to use Acrobat 9.
This should INDEED work in Acrobat 9. Command for the Mac.
What is the shortcut key for save as option in acrobat 9………
ctrl-shift-S is save-as. (command instead of ctrl on the Mac)
IS there any shortcut key for highlighting selected text ( Xcept rightclick highlight ofc )
Sort-of. Once the highlight tool is activated (you can press “U” if you have single key accelerators turned on), you only need to drag accross text to highlight – it’s pretty painless and fast.
Looking for keystrokes to access the encrypt drop down (Alt+A+C+2 in Acrobat 8), also for watermarking (Alt+D+W+A in Acrobat 8). I use these a lot for a lot of documents one at a time and would like to now what the keystrokes are. Also, if you know of a way to take 1 PDF and by way of an action or process turn it into >100 PDFs each with their own watermark I would LOVE to know how to do that!
I’m interested in creating a shortcut in Acrobat 9 — I do a lot of proofing and copy editing of PDFs, and the tool I use the most is Highlight Text. What I’d love to have is a quick way to close the Comments box on each edit from the keyboard, without having to click on anything with the mouse. Do you know of a way to do this? Thanks so much!
Do you know the shortcuts for
1) bringing up the “combine files” box
2) bringing up the “extract pages” box
?
thanks!!
For Combine Files: Alt + F + F + M
For Extract Pages: Ctrl-Shift-X
