Thanks, Dave, for including the historic video. I remember sending documents that arrived scrambled because the client didn't have the font I used.

I felt so smart when I figured out a workaround.

Having Acrobat and sending files that arrived with layout intact made me feel like the electronic elite. I saved money on couriers who went back and forth between the designer in the Art Department and the commercial printer.

Is Art Department the right name?

My favorite Adobe Acrobat feature was "watched folders." When a new file was placed in the inbox of a watched folder, Distiller generated the Acrobat file, indexed it for fast retrieval, and placed it in the outbox. Pretty nifty for finding lost documents, especially since our file names were brief and enigmatic.

I searched Help and discovered that "watched folders" feature is still available, a more complex, definitely on the geeky side, but still there.

Barb,

You could set Continuous 2-up w/ Cover as your default view in Preferences > Page Display. The cover page option isn't there, sadly.

Here's a slick trick you could try:

1. Open your file.
2. Alt-V
3. P
4. T

Done.

Hope that's what you're looking for!
David

You know what drives me nuts about Acrobat 8/9? Trying to preview my InDesign docs with facing pages. I end up changing my Document Properties to Continuous Facing Pages (with Cover Page), saving, closing and reopening. Is there a better way????
