It’s a question that is posed in literally every Acrobat class I teach. “Do Acrobat’s Sticky Notes print?” The answer is “Yes… and No. It’s YOUR choice”. To see how one controls if the comments will print or not, simply go to Preferences (Ctrl –K / Cmd-K) and click on
Commenting on the left. You will find a check box labeled Print notes and pop-ups in which you can select or deselect. With this feature disabled, comments such as Sticky Notes will not be available from Acrobat’s Print dialog box. Once enabled, printing of your comments are possible, but still must be specifically requested in the print dialog box. On the right side of the print dialog box, Acrobat allows you include or exclude different document components. Under Comments and Forms, click the pop-up menu to see the options. With Document selected, Comments will not be printed. By changing this option to
Document and Markup, your various types of comments will then be printed. If you’d like to print your comments in a list style, why not try the Comments>Summarize Comments command and select Comments only from the options. You can also choose a sort criterion, allowing you to sort by Author, Date, Page or Type. Acrobat will create a new PDF file containing a list of all your comments.
There you go. A feature of Acrobat that has options you may have not yet discovered. Interested in more?
